EPC for Commercial
& Industrial Clients
Base Solar specialises in solar engineering services in Malaysia, offering turnkey installations, project development and financial analysis including PPA negotiation.
Project Development
Our team of long-standing solar installation professionals are experts in the design, engineering, procurement and operations of grid- and C&I-connected solar PV systems in Malaysia and worldwide.
We start each project by analysing policy frameworks and conducting a pre-feasibility study and a design & engineering survey. The pre-feasibility study includes detailed financial analysis of a potential PV plant, and we undertake any tendering or PPA negotiation necessary to make it viable. Various financial simulations and sensitivity analysis are performed to determine market conditions and create a business case meeting investors’ expectations. The team has vast experience in estimating annual energy production, presenting preliminary electrical connection studies and initial plant design. We also provide global project development guidance and complete any progress reports needed for the client to obtain the permissions or grants required for their project.
To ensure the approval of the final design ahead of construction, we conduct a detailed review including a site survey, testing, commissioning and finalizing O&M procedures for when the plant is fully operational.
Project Execution
Following approval of our clients’ plans, we begin to execute the project.
Firstly, detailed designs for the PV plant are produced, including engineering calculations and drawings, technical planning, production of the bill of materials and preparing the construction schedule. Base Solar’s procurement team accesses the best technology solutions via its global supply chain and long-term component supply partners. We then organise the on-site delivery of all construction materials and equipment before work begins according to the detailed drawings, following the highest standards and local compliance.
Finally, we deploy a skillful and competent team to ensure the project timeline met. Excellent management and supervision of all resources means we consistently reach the highest standards of quality assurance and safety, while remaining competitive in terms of cost and adhering to all local authority regulations to the completion of project.
Project Financing
Base Solar’s project management and financial teams offer support in structuring the finance for the project. Repayments can be delayed for up to a year after the project is built, so that the client does not need to provide any upfront investment until the project is fully operational.
NEM
(Net-Energy Metering Program)
Malaysia has now implemented a new 500–megawatt (MW) capacity quota for net energy metering (NEM) until 2020, with allocation made on a first-come, first-served basis. It is a new mechanism designed to replace the Feed-in Tariff which closed for registration back in 2016. NEM allows self-consumption of electricity generated by photovoltaic (PV) system users, while selling the excess energy to a distribution licensee on a like for like basis. The new net metering regime was introduced on 1st January 2019, at the same time as solar leasing was rolled out, to further encourage domestic, commercial and industrial solar power generation in Malaysia.
How does it work ?
- PV system converts energy from sunlight into electricity.
- The inverter converts the electricity produced by the solar array from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) for use homes, schools or businesses and measures the energy produced by the PV system.
- The energy is used in homes, schools and businesses.
- The NEM Meter records energy usage and excess energy produced.
- Excess energy not used by the property goes back to the electric grid.
- Roll-Over-Credit (24 months) for Net Energy Metering
